Supporting the UK’s Leading Online Psychiatric Service

July 10, 2025 • Reading time 3 minutes

Psychiatry UK is a leading provider of online psychiatric services in the UK, catering to children, teenagers, and adults within both the NHS and private sectors. As healthcare increasingly transitions to digital platforms, Psychiatry UK is addressing the expanding demand for online services.

To support its growth, Psychiatry UK partnered with a consortium of Edge Health, PPL and Baxendale to deliver a transformation roadmap. This collaboration has been key in navigating a significant investment event, as well as a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, which resulted in a “Good” rating.

Edge Health focussed on the data and analytics element enabling the below.

Aligning data with great patient care

A core element of the growth journey involved leveraging data effectively to enhance patient care and support informed organisational decisions. We worked closely with Psychiatry UK’s Data, Analytics and Reporting (DAR) team to ensure the infrastructure was fit for purpose, providing the right data at the right place and time. This continues to enable evidence-based decision-making to high quality deliver care and enhance patient safety based on solid analytics.

Insight reporting to support work across a growing team

As Psychiatry UK continued to grow, we supported the development of reporting tools that could keep pace. This included helping the DAR team develop reporting aligned to frontline delivery and making sure that data continued to support confident, informed decisions that benefited patients.

Enable scaling at pace without compromising data quality

We partnered with the infrastructure team to share our experience on best practice regarding how to scale analytics infrastructure and processes, enabling integration of data from internal and external sources, while implementing historical change tracking to improve auditing, traceability of patient data, and the overall reliability of the evidence to build a complete picture of care and enable Psychiatry UK to keep scaling at pace without compromising data quality.

This collaboration contributed to broader capability-building within the DAR team, from increasing the visibility of key reports to supporting internal knowledge-sharing and better understanding the needs of clinical and operational teams. This has set Psychiatry UK up to keep growing while delivering high-quality, insight-led care for patients.

A successful acquisition and a CQC recognition that reflects high quality of care

In late 2024 Psychiatry UK went through an acquisition event and was visited by the CQC. In June 2025, Psychiatry UK was rated “Good” by the CQC. This outcome reflects the exceptional dedication and hard work of teams across the organisation, and the high-quality of care being delivered to patients every day.

“Edge Health’s expertise has helped to create the basis for a scalable data architecture that is really improving the quality and availability of data for our business. Beyond the technical delivery, they focused on upskilling our internal team, ensuring we could confidently maintain and extend these foundations when they have finished. They have been the ideal partner for us; technically strong, collaborative and solution focused.”

We’re happy to have supported Psychiatry UK on this improvement and growth journey – working together to align data with the excellent care being delivered, evidence progress, and help the organisation demonstrate its achievements throughout the CQC reinspection process.
